What did I think of the book?

I liked Marley and Me a lot. I rate it 5 stars out of 5 stars. This book made me feel a lot of feelings. It made me want to laugh and cry. It is a very touching but entertaining story about a dog and his family. You might learn anything about training a dog, but you will learn to appreciate a dog’s, unconditional love. Everything in this book was told in detail, so I felt like I was there in person. I liked how the book was not just about Marley, it was also about John, his family, and how a dog made their life memorable.

What did I think of the characters of the book?

John and his family are like an average family that lives in the United States. Marley, however, is a bundle of energy. He is an American, yellow Labrador Retriever that is high-strung, boisterous, and sometimes is uncontrolled. He is strong, powerful, endlessly hungry, very active, and often destructive but without malice.

What did I think of the art of the book?

The art of the book is made of photographs that John or his family took. The photos represent a part of John’s life with Marley.  The pictures all mean something and is memorable to John. Marley is happy in most of these pictures.

Would I like a sequel or does the sequel work?

I would not like a sequel to this book. This book is complete and does not need a sequel. It ends on a sad, but good note. We wanted to know about Marley’s life and it ended at the end of the book. We don’t need to know more about John and his family because the book was mainly about Marley.

QUESTION #5: What is the ideal reader age group for this book?

The ideal reader age group for this book would be 13 and up. The couple’s sex life is mentioned occasionally because they were trying to have a baby. Once, Marley’s heavy breathing is said to sound like a sexual movie. It is very mature for younger kids.
