What did I think of the series?

I have to rate this series 5 stars out of 5 stars. It was amazing! Celaena is one of my all-time favorite young adult heroines. This series is a fantasy adventure action-packed series. This series had humor and the world created is amazing! This series seemed to fly by. I couldn’t stop reading this series.

What did I think of the characters of the book?

 ***Spoiler Alert(s)***

Celaena Sardothien/Aelin Galathynius is extremely beautiful. She has blonde hair with striking eyes. Her eyes are turquoise encircled with a ring of gold. Brash, capable, and vivacious, she stands out.  She has amazing fighting skills and confidence that comes off as arrogant. She is cunning, hot-headed, has a sharp wit, and a sharp tongue. She used to have many scars, but they were erased off. She has 5 tattoos that describe the stories of how she lost her loved ones. Aelin is passionate and loyal to her friends. She is a warrior and a girl-girly. She is the famous Adarlan Assassin. She is also the lost princess and Queen of Terrasen. She has dated Sam, Dorian, Chalol, and married Rowan(in this order). She was in Endiover(a prison) for a year, until Prince Dorian wanted her in the King’s competition.

Prince Dorian Havilliard the second is the King of Adarlan. He is the eldest son of King Dorian Havilliard the first and Queen Georgina. He is tall(6’0), with raven-black hair. He has sapphire blue eyes, well-groomed dark eyebrows, and is described as very handsome. He is compassionate, bright, loyal, has a curious mind, and a love for reading. After having the Wrydstone collar removed, Dorian has a permanent pale line on his neck. He also has raw magic that is the rarest and deadliest kind of magic. He dated Aelin, Sorscha, and is currently in a relationship with Manon.

Chalol Westfall is the Hand of the King in Adarlan. He is very handsome with chestnut hair and copper-brown hair. He is incredibly muscled and tall, he is 6’1. He is an expert swordsman. He would give up his life for Dorian because they are close friends. He was paralyzed from the waist and below, but he can use a cane to walk. He dated Aelin, Nesryn, and married Yrene. Princess Nehemia Ytger was the Princess of Eyllwe and Aelin’s friend.  She was described as beautiful with a long and lean body. She had brown eyes, brown skin, and long black hair that she usually wore in thin braids. She was very wise and intelligent. She was fluent in the language of Wyrdmarks. She was killed by one of the previous competitors in the King’s champion competition.

Rowan Whitethorn is a full-blooded fae and the King consort to Aelin. He is also Aelin’s mate. He is tall (6,4) and broad-shouldered. Like all the other Fae, he has elongated canine teeth and delicately pointed ears. He has an accent that sounds like a purr. He has tan skin and a tattoo that starts from the left side of his temple and flows over his jaw, down his throat, and disappears under his clothes. He and Aelin share a tattoo on their backs. He is handsome, tan skin, pine green eyes, and long gleaming silver hair. He cuts it shorter later in the series. He can shift into a hawk. He also has magic. He is first seen as cold and uncaring, mostly acting with anger and annoyance. Rowan warms up to Aelin and is kinder and more caring, showing worry when she is hurt or weak. He is very loyal to Aelin and supports her choices.

Kaltain Rompier was a Lady of Adarlan. She was vain and an uninteresting courtier. She was described as strikingly beautiful. She has pale skin and a narrow waist, shaped by tight corsets. She had long raven-black hair and sculptured brows over her night-dark eyes. Her voice was rich and cultured. She had a scar on her arm where the Wyrdkey was hidden. She was wearing a night-black dress that was little more than cobwebs and shadows even in the bitter cold. She was small and painfully thin, bordering on gaunt and covered in too many dark bruises to be accidental. She was pursuing Dorian and competing with Celeana for his attention and love. She was thrown in the dungeon for committing a crime. She also had magic and burned down a part of Morath and killed herself.

What did I think of the art of the book?

There are two versions of this cover. The version I saw was Celaena standing with two swords in her hands. This looked amazing! She looks like she could jump off the cover and end you right where you are sitting/standing. Celaena has long, white hair and is staring at us with a death glare. She is wearing a necklace, a black jacket, a black, ripped shirt, and black pants. She has metal shoulder pads, metal arm guards, metal knee pads, and I think metal shoes. She also wearing a black belt with her dagger strapped in.  The background is blue and I love where all the words are placed. The title is in the middle and everything is on the top or the bottom.

Would I like a sequel or does the sequel work?

There are sequels and prequels to this book. There are 6 more books after The Throne of Glass. I am excited to read the next book. The next book is Crown of Midnight. The prequel is The Assassin’s Blade.  I am definitely finishing this series.

What is the ideal reader age group for this book?

The ideal age group for this book would be 14+ because the series gets a little mature towards the end of the series. There is a lot of violence, some mature scenes(not very graphic), some language, and other mature themes. This book is only recommended for 14 and older but some mature 13 years old could read it.
